Stowe, Vermont
Summer
The great outdoors beckons visitors during Summer in Stowe. Our quaint, small-town New England village is surrounded by the unspoiled natural beauty of the Green Mountains.
Area Activities
Walk, bike, or rollerblade the 5-mile Recreation Path from the heart of Stowe Village, as it crisscrosses the Little River up the Mountain Road to the base of Mt. Mansfield. On hot summer days, cool off with a refreshing dip in one of the many swimming holes along the Rec Path. Stop to refuel on the patio at Stowe Cider, American Flatbread, Idyltime, Piecasso or the Alchemist Brewery.
You can drive up the Toll Road to the top of Mt. Mansfield – or take the Gondola high above the ski trails – for a picnic with panoramic views of the Presidential Range in NH and Lake Champlain. Stowe boasts an ever-growing mountain bike trail network, along with hiking trails for all abilities (choose one that leads to a waterfall!).
Stop for a Brew and a view at the famous Trapp Family Lodge Bierhall or catch a Sunday summer concert in the “music meadow” with spectacular sunsets as a backdrop to the stage. By car, adventure into the boulder-lined Smugglers Notch, just hoot your horn on the winding one-lane road!
The Waterbury Reservoir has plenty of boating options, while the Green Mountain Reservoir is idyllic for paddling (take a fly-fishing course at the Fly Rod Shop!). Of course, summer in Vermont wouldn’t be complete without a tour of the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory in Waterbury!
